PEFORMANCE PROJECT

We have been awarded funding from ACE to create amazing performance projects looking into African history and culture, drawing from traditional African art forms such as music, dance and storytelling. We are inviting young people between the ages of 16-25 to join us in our Young Peoples Scholarship Programme. If you have a passion or are studying performing arts in Further or Higher Education, come and train, rehearse and perform with the company in our annual performance showcase during October Black History Month.

In addition to your training you'll have:

Opportunities to meet professionals in the Creative Industry (Free Workshops & Theatre Trips)
A pack which includes photo shots, & water bottle!
Healthy snacks & drinks covered!
Employment by the company after completing the scholarship programme with internships and work placements. You will need to exhibit competence, commitment, dedication & leadership skills.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Training Course in African Art Forms

Our 8 week training, June- July includes:

Traditional African & African contemporary dance forms, to challenge and expand creative and technical perimeters of the styles.
Singing & vocal techniques, to develop skills in diverse styles drawing from traditional & contemporary African songs.
Acting & Storytelling, to expand skills for performance.
Mentoring, tailored to suit individual student needs.

Performance opportunities

Participants will have the opportunity to:

Learn in professional company settings.
Gain experience and knowledge to understand the skills of a performer in the creative arts industry.
Learn authentic repertoire to further develop their artistic and creative skills.
Rehearse for rolls applying rehearsal techniques, time management, self-discipline & commitment to work.
Perform with renowned professional African artists in a live theatre setting, performing to wider, diverse audiences.

Arts Award
Frame work

Participants can achieve Arts Awards to gain UCAS points.

As an organisation, we are extremely delighted to be Arts Award advisors.
This enables us to deliver Arts Award to our students to grow their creativity and skills & achieve Bronze, Silver or Gold qualifications.
It can optimise their CV and employability skills.
This could impact young people to deliver positive outcomes such as: entering higher education, paid work, confidence to self-direct artistic projects or set up their own theatre companies.

CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

We collaborate with cultural organisations, and further & higher education institutions, to give young people the opportunities to experience pathways towards careers in the creative industries. Profits made from the show will fund workshops, theatre trips and other performance opportunities.
